Dr. Angel Macagno was born and raised in Argentina where, as a board-certified physician, he practiced Orthopedic surgery for 15 years before deciding to fulfill his lifelong goal of practicing medicine in the United States. Dr. Macagno completed his first spine fellowship at Miami Children’s Hospital where he specialized in complex spinal deformity in children and adolescents. He then completed a surgical internship and orthopedic surgical residency at State University of New York at Downstate in Brooklyn, NY, followed by a second, ACGME-accredited, spine surgery fellowship at New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan, New York.
Dr. Macagno has participated in numerous research studies and has published several book chapters on spine-related topics. He is active member of multiple national and international societies, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, North American Spine Society and International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery.
