Neurology

CitiMed’s neurology team specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of problems related to the brain, spine, and nerves. The nervous system is the body’s command center, controlling your movements, senses, reflexes, and more. Therefore, expert neurological care when you’re injured is essential. Our scope of care ranges from neurological emergencies like traumatic brain injury, to chronic conditions like migraines and headaches. CitiMed’s neurologists are supported by spine surgeons, radiologists, interventionists, and other licensed medical staff to provide comprehensive neurological injury care.

An evaluation by a board-certified neurologist is the best first step toward identifying any neurological issues. This will most likely start with a physical exam, in which your neurologist may observe your speech, vision, strength, coordination, reflexes, or sensation. While a physical observation may help localize the injury or condition, your neurologist may request certain imaging tests or additional studies to confirm your diagnosis.

CitiMed houses complete diagnostic centers at six locations, including state-of-the-art MRI, CT scan, and x-ray technology. This allows patients access to all the injury care they need, all under one roof, from initial consultation through recovery. The Oasis 1.2T Open MRI System, available at our Yonkers and Sunset Park locations, provides unmatched patient comfort while delivering superior neuro imaging results. This MRI system features high resolution imaging, fast scan times, unobstructed viewing, and is able to accommodate all patient types, including claustrophobic and larger sized individuals. The Siemens Trio is a 3T MRI System that allows CitiMed to provide comprehensive brain imaging for TBI (traumatic brain injury) and other neurological conditions that aren’t always visible on a standard MRI scan. The Siemens Trio is available at our Midtown location.

Motor Vehicle Accident & Work Injury Care

At CitiMed, we see a lot of patients that develop neurological issues following a car accident or an incident at work. Some patients who are injured while at work or in a motor vehicle accident may put off seeing a doctor for their acute injuries, but even non-traumatic neurological injuries can result in long-term damage if left untreated. CitiMed accepts workers compensation and no fault insurance, so patients who have been injured at work or involved in a motor vehicle accident can seek immediate medical attention and be evaluated for any neurological damage.

Treatment for neurological conditions can vary depending on the specific condition or injury and its severity. Most treatment aims to restore function and minimize any associated pain or symptoms. Your treatment plan may include interventional treatment like pain management or physical therapy. If your condition warrants surgery, CitiMed’s team of neurosurgeons have years of surgical experience to help mitigate your symptoms and improve your quality of life. Early diagnosis for neurological conditions is key, so that our neurologists can begin the most appropriate treatment as soon as possible to prevent long-term damage.
